Rock Creek Hills Citizen's Association sent a letter to the Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission on June 3, 2003 regarding the maintenance of the parks in the Rock Creek Hills area. Specific maintenance issues discussed included: lack of mowing, removal of trash cans from the parks, and the lack of pet waste bags in Rock Creek Regional Park.
Mr. Charles R. Loehr, Director MNCPP, responded on July 14th. In his response, Mr Loehr stated that the "desired mowing and trimming schedule is about 7-10 days. Due to budget cuts this schedule has been extended to 10-15 days. However, because of wet weather, we have not always been able to adhere to even that schedule "
Mr. Loehr also addressed the issue of pet waste bags. MNCPP does not have the resources to timely refill the "mutt mitts" and appreciates the residents that have been assisting in this area. "The continuing supply of mutt mitts in the future will be decided in the context of a more general carry in, carry out trash policy that the County Council has instructed us to implement."
