Shannon
Hamm, President, called the meeting to order.
Guest
Speakers:
Ø
Dana
Matthis
Community Service Officer for Montgomery County, Bethesda District
Also attending from the Montgomery County Police
Department were Officer Brian Coakley and Detective Bill Price.
Some of the topics discussed were:
ü
Neighbors
must be vigilant. Please call the police if you see any suspicious activity.
They would rather get a call that turns out not to require their
attention than to miss a lead in a police matter.
ü
Try to
prevent crime by taking precautions (e.g., don’t leave valuables in your car;
don’t leave doors or windows unlocked; etc.).
ü
Make sure
that unattended youth know not to allow strangers into the house.
Have a neighbor available as a contact.
They should call the police when their safety is threatened.
ü
Dana
Matthis can arrange a home security survey for any Rock Creek Hills resident
that has not recently had one. She
can be reached at 301 657-0119.
ü
Copies of
several safety/crime prevention brochures were provided.

John
Rosenberg
– Discussion regarding Train Noise Issues
John presented information concerning a petition
requesting a “quiet zone” at the CSX Forest Glenn crossing.
The Federal Railroad Administration, via 1994 legislation, is in the
process of establishing a list of safety measures that can be taken in lieu of
blowing a train whistle when approaching an at grade crossing.
Also attending the meeting with interest in the issue
of train noise was Carol Mc Kenzie of Mr. Berlage’s office.
Rock Creek Hills Citizens Association is interested
in the issue of train noise but did not take a position, and there were no votes
concerning taking a position.
